Glass is cut on Automatic cutting tables, whose software optimises the glass sheets to ensure the best glass yield is achieved per sheet.

The cut glass is generally arissed to remove the sharp edges and either used for toughening into safety glass, double glazing or further processed with edge polishing and decorative features, like splash backs, mirrors and painted glass for example.

National Glass has 3 toughening furnaces that convert normal window glass into Grade ‘A’ safety glass to NZS/AS 2208 and complies with NZS 4223 Glazing in Buildings.

Edge polishing is achieved through straight line edging machines for square or rectangular shapes or if a more complex shape, circle or oval is required, like balustrade, showers and table tops, they would be processed on our computerised CNC Bavalloni Alpa.

Splash backs and complex shape cutting is processed on our Water Jet cutting machine. Fine granite is mixed with water under very high pressure that cuts through the glass and is able to form centre cut-outs and holes, with extreme accuracy due to its CNC CAD operation.

Other decorative effects can be applied to the glass like bevelling, brilliant cutting and sand blasting. Colour can also be applied to the glass through screen printing, back painting or Deco.

Evasafe laminate is a custom lamination process that National Glass has introduced to New Zealand. This process forms a Grade ‘A’ Safety glass by bonding two or more layers of glass together permanently. Evasafe also allows creativity to come to the fore as you can add pictures, photos, fabrics and just about any other medium between the panes of glass to create a lasting impression and impact.
